Reproduction Roman Coin
Julius Caesar Aureus
As these are reproduction coins they will be almost identical to those in the photos, however minor variations may occur.
These are high quality, museum grade reproduction coins. Each is stamped with "WRL" so they cannot be confused with the original.
Struck between 48-47BC, this reproduction 22ct gold plated aureus coin is made from lead-free pewter and celebrates Caesar's success in the Gallic Wars. The obverse shows a laureate female head, most probably the goddess Venus, from whom Caesar was believed to have descended. The numerals LII to the left, represent Caesar's age, 52. The reverse shows a trophy of Gallic arms, including horned helmet, coat of mail, oval shield and dragon headed war trumpet.
The coin is held in a clear plastic blister and is supplied in full colour pamphlet style packaging, complete with images and historical information of both the coin and life of Julius Caesar.
